KVCR-TV, the PBS affiliate serving the Los Angeles market recently cutover to its first automation suite – a multi-channel Sundance Digital Titan™ package. KVCR-TV, owned by the San Bernardino Community College District, chose a 3-channel Titan to control its first, second and third channels and analog simulcast.

The station is already reporting improved staff productivity and has voiced expectations of increased revenue generation. “Now we have much tighter airplay, plus we are putting out three channels with the same staff we had before. Guaranteed we are going to generate some revenue from that,” said Tom Guptill, Chief Engineer at KVCR.

Components of the configuration include TitanSync to provide backup for the primary system, two Air Control workstations, two List Processors, three Media Prep™ Stations and two SIDONs (Sundance Integrated Device Operations Network). The installation also incorporated an SQL Data Server, Sundance Archive Manager (SAM), Intelli-Sat PBS version for satellite record, and Launch Box, a direct access control panel. The Titan drives an Omneon Spectrum server, Harris Integrator Gold router and a Harris IconMaster master control switcher.
