CYPRESS, California, June 25, 2008 – Rental Express Video, the largest
video production rental house in San Francisco, recently purchased
FOR-A Corporation of America HVS-3800HS HANABI switcher to build the city’s first HD flypack
as part of the company’s expansion to HD production. Rental Express’
system is the only turnkey 2 M/E HD multi-cam system based in Northern
California and one of just a handful nationwide.
“When we set out to create our new flagship system, we wanted to offer
the best value to our customers,” said Rental Express Video Vice
President and General Manager Steve Barger. “We selected the HVS-3800HS
because we needed a switcher that was simple to operate, yet rich in
features when compared against higher priced competitive models.”
Barger said his company decided to make the HD equipment upgrades in
response to a shift in film and television productions: “Our clients are
increasingly seeking stunning high-definition video, either in
single-camera EFP or in multi-camera live location HD production. The
FOR-A switcher offered excellent multi-format capability, compact frame
and high-quality production value for this purpose.”
The HVS-3800HS is designed for both “live-to-air” events and “line-cut”
television production applications. The switcher operates in multiple
formats, including 1080i, 720P, 525/60, 625/50 and variations of
1080/24P. Barger says that was an extremely important feature as
production requirements vary depending on individual customer needs.
Barger added, “We wanted a switcher that ran its own software and
firmware, and was not reliant on a PC’s OS. FOR-A has distinguished
itself among the competition as being flexible and reliable – ideal for
those times when we need our equipment to work well in demanding
conditions.”
