Appear TV and Sencore Combine to Bring 8VSB Module to North American Operators

Oslo, Norway & Las Vegas, USA - April 21, 2009 Appear TV, a global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, has today announced at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas (booth SU8813) the launch of its 8VSB input module. The launch is announced in collaboration with Sencore, Appear TV's business partner in North America, who will OEM the solution.

Appear TV and Sencore have collaborated in producing the new 8VSB card, an American-standardized direct bi-product of the European DVB S/S-2 card. Sencore also OEMs other Appear TV products, including its QAM output module. In North America, Sencore markets the Appear TV units as the DMG 3x00 Digital Media Gateway family.

"The advantages that these new input / output modules offer means that the DMG 3x00 series will prove very popular throughout the IP, cable and hospitality markets," said Rick Hansen, Product Manager, Sencore. "We are pleased to continue our strong partnership with Appear TV which enables both companies to quickly and effectively respond to the requirements of customers around the world."

Appear TV's modular head-ends are designed to achieve the most flexible high-density solutions available, enabling multiple inputs, descrambling/scrambling and a variety of output options (IP, ASI, QAM, FM Radio and analog TV). The modularity and high flexibility of the company's head-ends make them suitable for multiple network architectures: streaming and multiplexing of digital content over IP based networks and conversion of digital content for analog networks (and distribution of TV and FM radio).

"We are pleased to work alongside Sencore to bring our leading head-end modules to customers across the world," said Thomas Lind, Technical Sales & Support Director, Appear TV. "The Digital Media Gateway family offers high-density multiplexing, descrambling, and scrambling capabilities for a variety of applications and we continue to develop our range of solutions in accordance with the needs of operators across the globe. By further extending our partnership with Sencore, we can offer global operators a highly flexible product range that solves real world problems."
