Riedel Unveils New Software-Features & Interfaces for MediorNet Fiber Networks at NAB 2010

Las Vegas, Nevada (April 19, 2010). – Riedel Communications Inc., leading manufacturer of intercom, fiber, audio and radio technology, presented the new software-based Embedder/De-Embedder for MediorNet as well as the MediorNet Multi-I/O breakout panel and the optical video card at this year's NAB in Las Vegas, Nevada.

MediorNet Embedder/De-Embedder

The new Embedder/De-Embedder expands MediorNet’s software-based conversion and signal processing features. The new tool embeds, de-embeds and shuffles any AES3/EBU signal as well as other data formats, such as control data for cameras. Like other MediorNet features such as the Frame Synchronizer, the Test Pattern Generator or the Text/Graphic Inserter, this feature eliminates the need for additional outboard gear, resulting in a more compact and cost-effective solution.

MediorNet Multi-I/O Breakout Panel

To offer a versatile solution for interfacing audio and other signals with MediorNet, the new MN-MBR Multi-I/O Breakout Panel provides eight AES and eight analog 4-wire connectors over CAT-5. 12 GPIOs and four serial ports via Sub-D 9-pin connectors complete the device’s interfacing. All signals are distributed intelligently through the MediorNet installation. The 19”/1 RU panel is connected to the MediorNet frame via two 44 pin Sub-D connectors to the MediorNet MN-MIO Multiple I/O card, which occupies just one low-speed port of the MediorNet mainframe. The breakout panel is also powered via the Multi-I/O card and does not need an external power supply.

MediorNet MN-HD4I-O / MNHD4O-O Optical Video Cards

The new MN-HD4I-O and MNHD4O-O cards provide four inputs or outputs with optical SFP connectors for four HD/SD-SDI/ ASI or two 3G-SDI video sources. The cards support all relevant video standards up to 1080p@60Hz. Each input operates independently and is equipped with auto format detection and on-board signal processing and conversion.
