Convenient IFBs & Expanded Logics with Riedel's Director 5.90

Las Vegas, USA (April 20, 2009). – Riedel Communications Inc., pioneer of advanced intercom, fiber and radio technology, introduced its latest version of the Director configuration software at NAB’09. Director 5.90 includes several new features and enhancements. Among these is a new, additional way to configure IFBs for Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom systems. The new IFB function also allows the user to assign inputs and outputs of any IFB to different ports. The new IFB table optimizes Director’s workflow by giving a clean and comprehensive overview of all IFB assignments.

Director’s extensive logic functions already allowed the easy programming of complex production processes. Version 5.90 expanded the logic functions, which now include D-Flip-Flop, Monoflop, Clock, XOR, NOR, NAND, NOP and XNOR. In addition, the logic schematics’ layout is now printable, allowing the user to keep track of very complex logic schematics.

The new scroll list function provides up to 1,000 entries per list, giving direct access from the panel to almost any port of a system. To handle large scroll-lists, a search function is implemented for the control panel. In combination with a keypad it is also possible to make quick calls via 3-digit numbers. Furthermore shortlists for groups and conferences are now available – a function that so far was possible only for ports.

The Director configuration software for Artist intercom systems provides the facilities, look and feel associated with most Windows software products so that the basic navigation, location and operation of standard features are familiar. A real-time application, Director allows an engineer to remotely monitor the live-state of all panels, thus eliminating the need to physically go to a panel where a user has reported a potential problem. Using the Remote-function he or she can even remotely control the panels of a specific user.

Director is easy to learn and extremely convenient to use. Configurations are simply edited by drag-and-drop. Programmable logic functions provide the possibility to handle complex production requirements with ease, while freely definable markers allow customized signalization throughout the system. In addition, the Audio Patch function facilitates the remote configuration of all internal routing and DSP settings for control panels in an Artist system, thus considerably reducing the amount of time needed for the setup and service of the system.
