never.no’s platform powers Rubicon TV formats for Viasat4

Viasat4 Norway makes its debut using never.no’s platform for user generated content and viewer interactivity. never.no’s technical platform is the basis for the Chill format created by Rubicon TV. Chill will run for 5 hours per day, distributed on a late night segment and a morning segment.

The technical platform consists of never.no’s Interactivity Desk (ID) and Dynamic Content Scheduler (DCS), and the Inscriber RTX graphics system from Harris Corporation.

Per Ove Akselvoll, Producer, Rubicon Interactive said: “We are very happy with never.no and the system that they provided us with. The RTX based system is new, and we are proud of being the first in Norway to use it. We only had 4 weeks to get the system up and running and I’m very pleased with the way never.no handled the challenge. We managed to go on air with a system that worked 100% from the start. We hope that we can create new formats based on the RTX system and the never.no platform.”

Lars Lauritzsen, CEO of never.no AS said: “Again, we are teaming up with Rubicon TV to integrate user generated content and viewer participation for a Nordic TV channel. I am proud of the fact that we have accomplished this in only 4 weeks, and at a very affordable cost level. We consider ourselves the technological world leader in this field, and Rubicon TV does a superb job with format creation based on our platform.”

Products
Interactivity Desk is an editorial system for content management and moderation of all types of viewer input, simple broadcast control functions, and functions for preparation and scheduling of stored content.

Dynamic Content Scheduler is a system for frame accurate scheduling and configuration of broadcast time, and for automatic interaction with graphics systems, video servers and other content management systems, automation systems and station clocks.

Intelligence is a data mining and statistical reporting tool for participation TV and dialogue services.

The platform is intended for use both for “moderated ITV” and for “automated ITV”. Both are based on interactive direct broadcasting, and both can be used stand-alone or in combination with regular programming.

In moderated ITV, viewers publish their own content (text, images, video and sound clips). One or more moderators review, edit and approve/disapprove the user generated content, and queue it for broadcast.

In fully automated ITV, viewers participate through selection of already stored and approved content (as in video jukeboxes), and through participation in games, quizzes, polls, etc.
