Logitek Adds Enhancements to Artisan, Mosaic Consoles

Logitek Electronic Systems, Inc. has announced several enhancements to the Artisan and Mosaic digital audio consoles. The Artisan began shipping in late 2006; the Mosaic has been in production for two years. Both consoles, which are modular, scalable control surfaces for Logitek’s Audio Engine router, are available in a variety of frame sizes to accomodate the user’s needed footprint and operational needs. Logitek announced the following enhancements:

• The total number of possible faders on an Artisan console has been increased from 30 to 32.

• Logitek’s Effects module for the Artisan, which was shown at last year’s NAB only as a prototype, is now fully operational and available. It provides instant access to all EQ and Dynamics settings, offers three levels of adjustment for each parameter – coarse, fine and ultra-fine – and is dynamically re-assigned to whichever Fader Module is being adjusted.

• For Artisan users, Pop-up EQ and Dynamics screens are now available that display console information on a user’s VGA screen in the room. As knobs on the Effects module are used to select parameters, the pop-up screen displays EQ and Dynamics settings in a large, easy to read format.

• For Mosaic users, a pop-up Mosaic Fader display with associated EQ and Dynamics information will place selected information on a user’s VGA screen. • vSnapshot, a scene “capture and recall” feature, provides a pop-up Graphical User Interface (GUI) that will run on a user’s VGA screen. (Capture and recall features are also available on a control surface without the need for vSnapshot.) 50 scene captures are available per control surface, with data saved in user-editable text files.

• For live radio applications such as location broadcasting or multi-microphone talk show applications, automatic mixing/ducking capability has been added to Logitek consoles. This ramp-up/ramp-down feature allows for smooth transitions between live microphones, reducing background noise and improving intelligibility. Logitek cites Sirius Satellite Radio’s use of this feature for airing NASCAR events, where a driver’s radio feed will smoothly duck other race audio while the driver speaks, then will smoothly ramp the race audio back up when the driver stops speaking.

All updates are currently available from Logitek.
