Logitek Debuts Digital Audio Console for TV
NAB 2006 – Logitek Electronic Systems, Inc. (booth N2802) has introduced the Mosaic-TV line of router-based digital audio consoles. As with other Logitek audio consoles, Mosaic-TV consoles are control surfaces for the Logitek Audio Engine – a full-featured router accomodating analog and digital audio I/O. Mosaic consoles use a series of drop-in modules that permit users to purchase console configurations that exactly meet their needs.
“Mosaic-TV was designed to meet specific needs of television broadcasters, at a very attractive price point,” said Tag Borland, Logitek president. “A fully loaded Mosaic-TV system provides the functions needed in small to medium market TV stations for less than $80,000.” Borland noted that the Mosaic-TV console’s functions will also prove useful for radio production and small-group performance applications.
Features in the Mosaic-TV console include:
• Multiple frame sizes, allowing console configurations ranging from newsroom work areas to on-air locations
• 5.1 compatible operation
• Direct access to two master mix busses and four sub mix busses from each fader module
• Flexible monitor controls including easy selection of mix minus outputs and talkback destinations
• On-board five function dynamics processor and four band equalizer
• Full color LCD screens on each module show needed information in an easy-to-read format
Mosaic-TV consoles can be configured with four different modules:
Fader Module – composed of two Penny & Giles® faders with color-changeable ON/OFF switches; full color LCD screen that indicates input, effects and metering for each fader; controls for four aux mix busses, and selection of master mix and sub mix busses.
Monitor module – includes headphone and monitor speaker gain controls as well as input / gain controls for guest headphones or an auxiliary studio’s monitor; two 5-button input selectors; headphone mix controls; monitor dim and mute switches; full color LCD screen which shows input source information; cue and talkback gain controls and input selection controls. Also included is a “Last” button which will restore the last source selection or will toggle between two sources.
Master module – includes Aux bus gain controls, selection of pre and post input channel fader levels, assignment of Aux busses to PFL/solo bus; talkback controls to Aux bus outputs; master bus gain controls; a frequency tone generator; Master and Sub-Master bus assignments to the Effects module; talkbacks to Sub-Master outputs; eight Penny & Giles® faders for control of the eight Sub-Master mix busses; and two full color LCD screens that display information on source assignments.
Effects module – this module provides controls for a four band equalizer, including high shelf, low shelf and two parametric sections with coarse and fine adjustment levels; a five-function dynamics processor with coarse and fine adjustment levels; and a full color LCD screen which displays the current value for each parameter.
Also available are narrow and wide Meter Bridges that include program metering plus LCD screens that display clocks/timers, meters, or text from the Audio Engine. The narrow meter bridge provides one main meter and two full color LCD screens; the wide meter bridge includes one main meter plus six full color LCD screens. As an alternative to or enhancement of the meter bridges, Logitek’s vScreen PC application may be used for display of meters and selection of desired sources on a PC monitor.
