Lawo Equipment Installed In Japanese Broadcaster's OB Trucks

The Television Nishinippon Corporation (TNC) of Fukuoka in Japan has signed a contract with OTARITEC, Lawo AG ’s representative in Japan, for the installation of a Lawo mc˛66 audio mixing console in TNC’s multipurpose OB truck, and a DALLIS I/O system in their large HD video truck.

In deciding to upgrade their OB trucks, one used for audio and the other dedicated to HD video productions, TNC indicated their determination to offer the best video and audio quality possible by using the most modern technology available. The two OB trucks will be used in combination for events requiring simultaneous picture and audio production; the audio truck, with its new mc˛66, will be also used as a stand-alone solution for audio productions.

TNC chose Lawo’s mc˛66 because of its reliability, DSP power, redundancy design, and its flexible operation. Their console will have 24+8+16 faders; its HD Core provides 144 DSP channels and a matrix that can handle up to 8192 mono channels. The DALLIS I/O system, proven in many installations worldwide, will be installed in TNC’s HD OB truck.

Within a short time since its launch in 2004, Lawo’s mc˛66 console has become one of the most successful OB consoles in Europe. And with good reason: Thanks to its lightweight construction, low power consumption and compact dimensions, the mc˛66 is ideally suited for OB trucks. The core, with 8192 mono channels, offers up to 512 DSP channels. Straightforward configuration of both matrix and console, an advanced audio-follow-video function with 128 events, and parallel clean FX summing are just some of the features.

Mr. Shigeru Makino, General Manager of TNC’s Production Engineering Division explains the decision: “The mc˛66 console is a reliable and stable model. Its light weight, compact size and power saving features fit precisely in the plans for our OB truck!”

The TNC project started in July 2006 and is scheduled to complete in February 2007.
