 | Fujitsu to Showcase Portfolio of High-Performance Compression Solutions at Content & Communications
Foothill Ranch, CA, October 6th, 2010 — Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leading provider of IT-based business solutions, including digital media solutions, advanced technology products and biometric security, will preview its next generation of compression technologies and showcase its best-in-class, field-tested portfolio of MPEG-4 high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) solutions at Content & Communications World 2010. The full range of Fujitsu encoding technologies, including the IP-9500 High Performance Encoder, IP-9400, IP-900 and the company’s newest solution optimized for H.264 (AVC) 10 bit 4:2:2 encoding, will be on display at the Fujitsu booth, #1146. Content & Communications World 2010 will take place October 13-14, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
“In today’s economic climate, broadcasters are looking for ways to cut costs without sacrificing performance or operational capabilities,” said Kunio Konishi, director of product management, media solutions, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. “In the past 18 months, Fujitsu has delivered efficient solutions that allow broadcasters to transfer HD digital content utilizing their existing infrastructure. The Fujitsu line of MPEG-4 encoders sets the industry standard for superior picture quality, low latencies and the highest-possible video and audio fidelity at price points that meet the full range of budget requirements.”
The industry-leading portfolio of Fujitsu compression solutions has been field-proven by global broadcast organizations for more than three years, providing customers with unmatched efficiency, quality, reliability and life-cycle management. The Fujitsu products also deliver both immediate return on investment and the greatest long-term value as compared to other compression technologies on the market. The Fujitsu suite of products includes:
• The IP-9500 high-performance HD/SD H.264 (AVC) 4:2:2/4:2:0 contribution encoder. The Fujitsu IP-9500 is the industry’s first encoding solution to enable the simultaneous transmission of H.264 AVC encoded content in both 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 formats within the same content stream, allowing broadcasters to efficiently and cost-effectively utilize either format based on their existing infrastructure. The IP-9500 also integrates a cutting-edge process for maintaining non-degraded 4:2:0 chroma resolution to preserve video fidelity throughout the entire communications link.
• The IP-9400 cost-efficient HD/SD 4:2:0 encoder specifically designed for electronic news gathering (ENG) and satellite news gathering (SNG) operations.
• The IP-900 HD/SD (AVC) 4:2:0 encoder/decoder based on robust FEC/ARQ technology and built for low-cost acquisition and content exchange using less-than-perfect, bandwidth restricted IP networks.
During Content & Communications World 2010, Fujitsu will also preview its next-generation, high-performance compression technology that utilizes a newly developed ASIC processor, optimized to meet the growing demand for H.264 (AVC) 10 bit 4:2:2 encoding. The new solution is designed to support all formats, including 1080P and “stereoscopic” 3D television content. It will be integrated into the Fujitsu IP-9600, a scalable encoder/decoder processor and networking platform scheduled for release in mid-2011. The enhanced feature of 4:4:4 encoding will also be added to the IP-9600 product roadmap for future release.
Fujitsu media solutions are available through channel partners in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Servicing U.S customers is NCS Industries (part of the ADDvantage Technologies Group), a master stocking distributor for the full range of Fujitsu AVC encoders, decoders and accessories, as well as AZCAR, Globecomm Systems, L-3/ESSCO, ND Satcom, On Call Communications and TBC Integration.
