Digital Transaction Group Focuses on Workflow Flexibility and Automation Innovation

Digital Transaction Group's newest innovations and product development focus on using standard IT networking infrastructure and non-proprietary hardware. DTG’s – Content – Storage – and Delivery – management tools integrate content life-cycle processes to effectively manage and automate television operations and workflows for the 21st century.

This year at NAB, DTG will be unveiling an integrated content life-cycle, workflow management and automation system. The system is based upon an enterprise grade development platform, Microsoft .NET and a newly designed object-relational database that provides superior performance, faster access and less replicated data. It runs on proven and reliable relational database management systems (RDBMS).such as the Microsoft SQL platform. This new architecture lets DTG integrate, support and adopt new technologies quickly and seamlessly.

Innovations include DTG’s eXtensible Device Server, or XDS, which runs on Microsoft Windows XP Pro and can support up to 64 devices per XDS, expandable to 1,024 devices in a single system. The XDS runs on a WAN/LAN and is capable of supporting hundreds of channels. The XDS provides better than +/- single frame accuracy (30 msec) and device drivers can be updated dynamically without impacting other drivers or devices. Each driver is capable of importing an XML personality file to customize that device’s driver. The XDS has an extensive library of drivers that support industry standard protocols.

This sophisticated content life-cycle, workflow management and device control system provides a platform for business intelligence, workflow flexibility, faster integration to external devices and systems, dynamic data exchange between departmental and remote databases/information systems, and transfer of digital content over any connected path. For example:

Integration with the content delivery systems to allow automated transfer of content and the import of content metadata.

Supports multiple ID’s for a single piece of content such as one or more House Numbers, ISCI Code, NOLA, UMID, and V-ISAN or any user defined identifier

Content demographics reporting – what, where, when and who.

Device control awareness, so all device configurations are in the database allowing a real time, graphical representation of all device connectors and connections including control, video and multi-channel audio. State and status information for each device driver and its connection are reflected in the database for centralized and remote control.

XML Rules and policies based workflow to automate tasks based on pre-defined criteria such as rules to enforce content metadata input and automate purging of content based on specified values for expiration date, content type, and media format and account.

Advanced security with user authentication and privileges to find out who did what and when they did it.

Extensive logging and reporting.

Centralized alerts and error reporting technology that supports activities from “to do” lists to device failure errors. Accessible from any connected computer, WAN/LAN or Internet.
