| da Vinci's Re-Evolution of the DI Workflow to Be Presented at Montreal-Based SMPTE Event CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Oct. 13, 2005 -- da Vinci Systems today announced that industry-veteran and da Vinci General Manager Bill Robertson will present "The Re-Evolution of DI" at a SMPTE meeting that will be held at the National Film Board in Montreal on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Robertson's presentation will include discussion of the evolution of color grading, starting with an analysis of the color grading process in both linear and nonlinear workflows and through the latest digital intermediate (DI) process, including key factors in data management and networking, and the role of image restoration in DI. "The term 'digital intermediate' has become the catch phrase for many workflows and products over the past few years, which has fueled some confusion over exactly what this process involves and which technologies will provide the most effective solution," said Robertson. "We're hoping to inform users of the most appropriate uses of linear and nonlinear processing and how each can be leveraged to best attain their production goals." Following the SMPTE presentation and again on Oct. 19, da Vinci will provide demonstrations of Resolve®, the company's digital mastering suite. Resolve combines da Vinci's renowned, gold-standard color enhancement technology with program-conforming tools designed specifically for the DI environment. The system's open architecture allows for a smooth overall workflow beginning with the browsing and selection of image data from a SAN or local storage.
