 | da Vinci Expands Resolve® Product Line With Resolve DI, Resolve FX, and PowerGrid™
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Sept. 9, 2005 -- At IBC2005, da Vinci Systems will introduce an expanded product line around its Resolve digital mastering suite, with three distinct hardware configurations and the new PowerGrid™ acceleration platform. The new Resolve FX, Resolve DI, and Resolve RT systems are each designed to address specific applications and are optimized for the varying resource demands faced by post-production facilities. All feature da Vinci’s Emmy Award-winning color enhancement interface combined with non-linear conforming tools.
“By expanding our Resolve line into three different systems, we’ve made it easier for post houses of all sizes and markets to experience the rich feature set and amazing processing abilities that make Resolve the most robust and versatile DI solution in the industry,” said da Vinci Director of Marketing Tony Fox. “Because Resolve is offered in a choice of configurations, studios just entering the digital intermediate arena can invest in a Resolve FX or perhaps a Resolve DI system knowing they can upgrade to Resolve RT later as their need for faster processing and expanded toolsets develops.”
With three versions now offered by da Vinci, the base-level mode, Resolve FX, retains much of the Resolve features already introduced, providing an excellent solution for budget-conscious studios wanting to offer file-based, non-linear color enhancement and conforming work. The Resolve FX model is an affordable tool in pre-visualization applications where real-time color enhancement is not needed, making it ideal for processing and matching short clips in a less-demanding digital intermediate workflow. Resolve FX is equipped with PowerPlant™, da Vinci’s software-programmable image-processing accelerator launched earlier this year.
The new Resolve DI system is well suited for digital intermediate projects that may not need real-time throughput yet still call for a substantial volume of color-look creation and conforming. One of the most notable additions in the Resolve DI model is PowerGrid2, a pair of PowerPlant accelerator boards that, when combined, dramatically increase processing speed and performance.
The top of the line and optimized for studios requiring flexibility, efficiency, and high-volume throughput, Resolve RT is the perfect system when true real-time image processing in film, digital intermediate, and video finishing are a requirement. Resolve RT delivers even greater speed and performance with PowerGrid3, a set of three PowerPlants. The system also features real-time waveform monitoring of data, a unique capability that allows colorists to simultaneously view a vectorscope, parade, or histogram display of the color grades they’re applying.
Additional PowerPlants and PowerGrids can be added to both the RT and DI systems, allowing colorists to create many layers of color enhancement and defocus effects on film-resolution images at speeds never before possible with a non-linear, software-based color grading system.
Resolve FX and Resolve DI will be available before the end of 2005. Resolve RT and PowerGrid are currently shipping.
