 | APT Launches New Video Module for WorldNet Oslo Broadcast Platform
APT, traditionally an audio codec specialist, will be launching a new video module for their award-winning WorldNet Oslo Broadcast Platform at NAB 2009.
Widely acknowledged by many major national & public broadcasters as the most professional platform available for the delivery of audio, voice and data over IP networks, the WorldNet Oslo now adds the ability to transport high quality JPEG2000 content for video over IP applications.
Hartmut Foerster, Product Manager for the APT’s Video Products explains, “We have chosen to support the Motion JPEG2000 video format on the WorldNet Oslo platform as it offers the 3 key benefits that have become synonymous with our system: professional quality content, low delay coding for real-time delivery and an ability to work well with the packetized approach of IP transport.” Motion JPEG2000 technology works together with the low latency, Enhanced apt-X audio algorithm to provide broadcast-grade audio and video with minimum delay while still ensuring bandwidth efficiency.
Foerster continues, “We have added the video functionality as a result of feedback from several high profile broadcasters who, having deployed multiple WorldNet Oslos throughout their networks, could see the benefit to be had from combining video with their audio and data payload. Applications such as sport events with high quality video and multiple audio channels, video contribution over Satellite or IP networks, studio/studio contribution and multi-channel audio distribution with video monitoring are all areas where this functionality could deliver cost-savings and network efficiencies.” The WorldNet Oslo Video system can also be used for de-embedding audio for SDI multi channel links.
