Cambridge, UK, 22 June 2005: Amino Communications today confirmed that it
has delivered 10,000 of it's AmiNet110H set-top boxes to TotalVision, an
international provider of in-room entertainment solutions, for use in
Caribbean guest rooms. The delivery is part of a larger order for 50,000
units. This deployment represents the first ever rollout of Amino's digital
hospitality products in the Caribbean and establishes it as a major
technology provider in this market.
TotalVision's service offers guests high-speed Internet access, multicast
Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and true video on-demand. "We selected
the AmiNET110H for our in-room media gateway because it means we can offer
the latest digital entertainment technology in a robust and secure unit from
the leading IPTV set-top box provider," said Tim Stark, VP Information
Technology for TotalVision. "We are also integrating additional
revenue-bearing services, and benefiting from simplified installation and
reduced operating costs."
The AmiNET110H is an ideal choice for digital guest room entertainment
systems based on IP (Internet Protocol) networks. Benefits of the system
include simple, remote updates of video content and remote system
monitoring, both of which result in fewer on-site service calls and reduced
operating costs.
Using the AmiNET110H also obviates the need to route multiple physical
networks to each room as an integrated Ethernet switch allows video,
Internet and voice traffic to share a single IP network without compromising
security or video transmission quality. Further cost savings can be realized
by integrating other guest services such as telephony and Internet access,
as well as billing and hotel information, into the system.
Roy Kirsopp, CEO Amino Communications LLC, commented, "We have always
considered IPTV to be ideal for the hospitality industry. The concept
offers so many advantages to the guests as well as greater revenue
opportunities and cost savings for the hotel management. Our set-top boxes
are compact, discrete and offer a high level of security, and the fact that
this will be the first deployment of our system in the Caribbean makes this
a particularly exciting prospect."
