Microwave Systems/Components
Even in this age of a networked world, microwave systems are common. Many transmitters are located in remote areas where only low speed POTS lines are available. Today's STL microwave systems can typically carry multiple digital signals that allow for digital program streams and network data to be relayed to the transmitter site. In addition to STL/TSL links, microwave systems provide point-to-point relays for a variety of applications including newsgathering, sporting events, airborne applications and motor sports.
When considering microwave system, factors such permanent vs. portable use are primary. Some portable systems such as live trucks often have one or more fixed receive sites with only the transmitter being mobile. Other applications allow for both ends to be portable, with direction finding antennas and other accessories that allow consistent use in changing conditions. |
