EAS Equipment
EAS systems are required in broadcast and cable facilities. As staples, they are often forgotten about until needed. While monthly and weekly
tests need to be monitored, as long as everything is working, little needs to be changed. While the required capabilities of all the units are
the same, features are what separate today's units from those of the past.
GPIs, GPOs along with serial and audio ports are about all that was needed. Today, network connections are common, as are built in radios and the
ability to manage operations from a distance. Built-in Web servers allow setup, configuration and testing from a range of devices including
iPhones. As a result, security of the system must be taken into account.
Additional management features can be very helpful. SNMP settings that notify where tests are missed, compliance logging software and even the capability to listen to and store audio clips are all part of many of the latest generation of EAS systems. |
