Cable Management
Let's face it, wiring can get out of hand in no time. There are numerous layers to cable management. the most basic is the physical layer. Neat cabling with quality labels can be a major time saver. Unfortunately, many installations do not allow the time or budget upfront, condemning employees to a long-term waste of time hunting for lost cables and trying to track down signals.
Wire ties, cable chases and lacing bars can all make a difference in the look of a rack. But racks are not the only place cable management is needed. Cabling must be routed from rack to rack, room to room and even from one building to another. All of these instances can become opportunities for chaos.
Management usually determines what a facility evolves or devolves into over time. Sharp, organized managers provide the necessary tools, budget, time and discipline to keep a facility looking good. Failure to provide this almost certainly guarantees facility cabling will become a rat's nest in the near future. What are you doing to ensure your facility is moving in the right direction? |
