Consoles and Audio Mixers

Whether they are used for radio, television, production or live events, audio mixers are indispensable. Operators can be trained to operate a simple board in just minutes. In some applications, the simpler the better. Alternately, complex boards offer sophisticated operations unheard of just a few years ago. The ability to rout and re-rout signals through a complex console allows experienced operators to produce complex effects and often single-handedly provide numerous individual feeds for a variety of outputs and assignments.

While most boards offer a variety of input types, it is important to verify that the appropriate modules exist that will allow your console to operate with the desired signal types. Many of the newer boards offer large numbers of individual presets and can recall even the most complex setups.

In the past, many boards were self contained, whereas today, many may just be control surfaces with the electronics located remotely. Audio networks allow control surfaces to be located far from the audio electronics. In some cases audio never goes near the mixer. This can be especially helpful in cases where multiple control points are needed for a common set of signals.
